This historic conservation of the PG&E Watershed Lands, one of the largest private landholdings in California, was made possible by engaged regulators, a willing utility company, and professional land trust partners taking on a unique opportunity to provide impactful public benefits to the citizens of California. The partnerships that grew from the effort are rich and enduring, and were a challenge to develop over two decades.
We hope that the lessons learned from this landscape scale conservation effort can benefit others who endeavor to accomplish similar projects.
