Pit River Tribe
The Ajumawi and Ilmawi Bands of the Pit River Tribe received over 4,300 acres of their ancestral homeland in the Hat Creek, Lake Britton, and Fall River Mills areas. The Tribe is comprised of eleven autonomous bands: Ajumawi, Atsugewi, Atwamsini, Ilmawi, Astarawi, Hammawi, Hewisedawi, Itsatawi, Aporige, Kosalektawi, and Madesi, that since time immemorial have resided in the area known as the 100-mile square, located in parts of Shasta, Siskiyou, Modoc, and Lassen Counties in the State of California.
Stewardship Council Enhancement projects funded tribal youth projects that trained young people and connected them to the land.
